French miniature black slate mantel clock, with time, thermometer and barometer, spring driven eight day movement with jeweled lever platform escapement, matte gilt brass dials, all with gilt brass bezels and beveled glasses, Roman numeral time with painted figures and blued steel hands, thermometer and barometer also with painted figures, the polished black slate case with incised gilt ornament and faux malachite panels, base finished with a thin gilt brass molding, c1870
CONDITION:
Slate case with good polish, minor spotting overall, minor chips, most repaired, gilt brass ornament retaining much of its original finish, incised decoration with very good gilding, faux malachite very good, original movement running, dials with original gilt surfaces, slight wear on thermometer, time and barometer excellent, rear cover for barometer with crack in beveled glass.
